About Nancy

I am a licensed clinical social worker, therapist, and social work professor with approximately twelve years of clinical practice experience and eight years of teaching experience.

I hold a Doctor of Social Work from the University of Southern California and a Master of Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin. My professional background includes hospice, home health, child custody evaluation, private practice, and university-level social work education.

My work has always centered on helping people make sense of difficult seasons, understand the patterns that shape their choices, and find practical ways forward.

But professional experience is only part of my story.

I have also experienced anxiety, depression, career changes, divorce, caregiving, loss, relationships, starting over, and plenty of moments when I wondered what I was supposed to do next.

That combination—professional knowledge and ordinary human experience—shapes the way I write.

My goal is simple: to make psychological ideas understandable, useful, and human.

Real. Helpful. Hopeful.
